Meet the Geek
Hi! My name’s Aaron Brand.
After a 25-year engineering career I’ve chosen to get out of the office and on the road. So now it’s just me, my caravan and a laptop. Living the digital-nomad dream!
I’ve been building websites for over a decade – from basic sites to complex web platforms. I am formally trained in web development, so I take care of what I publish.
I understand some people’s anxiety about the technical stuff, but don’t stress – we’ll get you online!
So, why a website business?
Geek in Town was borne out of my own frustrations travelling around regional Australia, planning routes and choosing places to stay.
I have often found it difficult to locate the services I need. Word-of-mouth is useless when you are coming from out of town, and internet searches come up short.
I have met with many business owners who say they would like to have their own website but are afraid of the technical aspects or believe the costs outweigh the benefits.
I’m here to show you that having your own site is easy and worth it!
Stand out from the crowd
Many businesses use Facebook as their only online presence. This is problematic for several reasons:
- The ability to demonstrate your services/product is limited
- Search engines (e.g. Google) do not prioritise Facebook pages
- Your business is exposed to unwanted or vindictive comments
- Customers that don’t use Facebook will look elsewhere.
Facebook has its place as a community forum. But if you want your business to stand out from the crowd, then your own bespoke website is the way to go!
